A Joint Effort by Las Huellas and UTRGV to Promote Wildlife Biology Education and Career Development
The long-term goal of the partnership between Las Huellas and UTRGV is to generate enough student and faculty interest and (financial) support for the potential creation of the Las Huellas Wildlife Biology Institute. Partnership Aims to Create Las Huellas Wildlife Biology Institute at UTRGV
The long-term goal of the partnership between Las Huellas and UTRGV is to generate enough student and faculty interest and (financial) support for the potential creation of the Las Huellas Wildlife Biology Institute. The initial goal is to establish UTRGV as an institution that local (regional and national) students can attend to obtain the necessary skills to pursue careers related to the goals of Las Huellas.
Establishing UTRGV as a leader in wildlife and biology studies will be accomplished in two areas.
- The first is an investment in undergraduate students interested in careers that align with the Las Huellas mission. (Wildlife Biologist, US Fish and Wildlife, Texas Parks and Wildlife (Game Warden)
- The second is an investment in graduate students, intended to encourage research related to conservation, management, and improvement of wildlife and wildlife habitats. Therefore, two types of scholarships will be established. Both will help build student interest to create a sustainable program.
